Preschool for Pups
Socialisation is one of the key advantages of puppies attending preschool. It helps puppies become happy and well-adjusted especially when around different people and dogs.
Our puppy preschool is designed for puppies 8 – 16 weeks of age. If your puppy is older than 15 weeks, our Senior Puppy classes would be better suited.
Puppy preschool is run by Delta accredited professional trainer Marianne from Pet Professor.
Overview
- Puppy preschool involves small classes of three-to-five puppies to allow them to receive individual attention.
- The program includes a one-hour informational webinar that owners can log into before the first class, followed by
- Four x one-hour weekly practical classes held here at the hospital.
- Our preschool offers gentle, force-free training using positive reinforcement, and a
- Safe, clean environment.
- Puppies can start attending classes after their first vaccination which they should have 7 – 10 days prior to the first class.
Topics Covered
- Socialisation: the right and wrong way to help your puppy become a well-adjusted adult
- Common puppy problems: play-biting, barking, jumping, chewing, digging and toilet training
- Recognising body language signals of puppies and how to prevent problem behaviours
- Responsible pet ownership
- Getting your puppy used to being home alone
- Basic obedience: sit, stay, lie down, leave it, give/swap, come, look, loose lead walking
- Gentle handling procedures like nail trims, grooming and vet exams
- Teaching your pup how to settle
- Environmental enrichment and appropriate toy selection

Senior Puppy Classes
We now offer Senior Puppy Classes which are led by our Delta accredited puppy trainer Marianne from Pet Professor. They’re suitable for pups between 4 – 6months of age.
Classes on on Saturdays at 2pm for small to medium pups and 3.30pm for medium to larger pups.
The 4-week course costs $250
