What to do if you LOSE your Dog or Cat
- Contact your Local Council to notify your pet is missing. Canterbury/Bankstown Area Ph 97079000
- Check with your pound on a daily basis.
- Ask around the neighbourhood and check with your neighbours. Put up some posters.
- Check lost and found advertisements in the local newspapers – you may even like to place your own advertisement in the paper.
- Post a notice on Facebook Lost and Found pets pages
- Check the local vet clinics for injured or stray
- animals.
What to do if you FIND a Cat or Dog
- Check for an identification/registration tag and, if the animal is wearing a name tag, phone the owner.
- Check the papers or facebook for lost cat and dog announcements.
- Ask around the neighbourhood to see if anyone has lost their cat or dog.
- Take the animal to the pound.
- If you can’t find the owner within a reasonable amount of time, you are required by law to contact your Local Council or take the animal to the pound.
- If the animal is injured take it to your nearest Vet
RSPCA Adoptions
Adopted animals can be the most loyal and loving pets. Search by animal type, and meet some of the adorable animals looking for new homes.
Pet Registry
The NSW Pet Registry is a database of microchipped and registered cats and dogs that live in NSW. This is the official database in NSW for registering your animal, and cat owners can easily create an online profile to help ensure they are reunited with their pet if it becomes lost.
